  • High Power Rheostat Applications : Resistive Load simulations, Current Regulators, Voltage Dividers, Motor Speed Controls, Burn-in test loading and other general applications
    The main function of a rheostat is to adjust the circuit current between the maximum current at the minimum resistance value, and the minimum current at the rated resistance.

  • Rheostat resistance value:
    Power Rheostat doesn’t have standard resistance values. Customers determine the lower and upper resistance values according to their current ranges, though there might have limitations because of resistance material availability.
    Two rheostats with the same power rating doesn’t mean they have the same maximum load current capacity.

  • High Power Rheostats : FVR

  • rated Power and rated resistance : 25W, 50W, 100W, 300W, and 500W

  • Rotary Rheostat Boxes / Heavy Duty Rheostat Boxes : FVRB :

  • Standard power range from 300W ~ 5kW

  • For some applications, power range can be up to 20kW

  • Options : Voltmeter, Ammeter, Thermal protection, Over-Current protection, Control Main Switch, Cooling System
     

  • Slide Rheostat with Handwheel : DSR-W :

  • Also known as High Power Variable Resistor
    Support power up to 20kW
    This series bases on the DDR-F/DSR-F series power resistor with a Handwheel to adjust the resistance value.

  • Adjustable Power Load Bank : 1-Phase DSR-WB / 3-Phase DSR3-WB

  • High Power Slide type Rheostat

  • This is based on DSR-F series Power Wire Wound Resistor.

  • Standard power range for 1-Phase : 1kW - 50kW

  • Standard power range for 3-Pjhase : 3kW - 54kW

  • Support high load current requirement

  • Options : Voltmeter, Ammeter, Wattmeter, Ohm meter, Thermal and Over Current protection, Cooling System and Control Main Switch

  • Please tell the following for all the above rheostats.

  • i) maximum Resistance when at the minimum Current
    ii) minimum Resistance when at the maximum Current
    iii) Voltage at minimum and maximum resistance

  • Different load current and resistance ranges combinations need different resistance material to withstand the current and achieve the resistance value.

  • There is no standard rated resistance or resistance material that suitable for all applications even with the same rated power.

  • Rheostat rated Power = (Rheostat maximum load Current)2 x rated Resistance

  • In terms of Rated Power, a smaller Rated Resistance value means the rheostat can have larger Rated maximum Current capacity.

ii) minimum Resistance when at the maximum Phase Current

iii) voltage (L-N or L-L) at minimum and maximum phase resistance
